Matt Brown is a dedicated leader whose impact extends from Yakima to the statewide political stage, driven by faith, family, and conservative principles. Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, he moved to Yakima in 2006, where he built a life with his wife, Chelsea, and their two children, Hudson and Lily.
His mission is to foster a thriving, family-focused community that supports small businesses and reflects the values that make Yakima strong. He’s running for re-election to continue building trust, promoting economic growth, and ensuring city government works for the people.
Politically, Matt is a committed conservative leader. Elected to the Yakima City Council (District 6) in 2021, he campaigned on restoring public trust and creating a business-friendly environment, which led to his appointment as Deputy Mayor in 2023.
Matt’s work—whether in ministry, business, or public service—has always been rooted in the same principles: faith, family, and freedom. For Matt, serving Yakima isn’t just a job. That’s my story—and that’s why I’m all in for Yakima.
Yakima’s economic success depends on a city government that clears the path for growth—not one that gets in the way. That means supporting small businesses, investing in infrastructure, and making smart use of key assets like our downtown, the Mill Site, and Yakima Airport.
What’s Been Done:
What’s Next:
Economic growth doesn’t require bigger government—it requires a city that works for those who create value. That’s the future we’re building.
A safe city is the foundation for everything—strong neighborhoods, thriving businesses, and peace of mind for families. Since being elected in 2021, I’ve made public safety a top priority—and I’ve never supported cuts to our police or fire departments.
That commitment has delivered real results:
Moving forward, my commitment remains clear:
Public safety funding will remain a top priority—regardless of politics or pressure. That means:
This is our home. Keeping it safe for our families and future generations isn’t just a policy—it’s a promise I will continue to uphold.
Small businesses are the backbone of Yakima’s economy—and they deserve a city government that supports their growth, not one that stands in the way.
Over the last four years, policy changes have been made to cut barriers, reduce red tape, and streamline city processes—making it easier to start and grow a business in Yakima. But more work remains.
To continue that momentum, the city must:
Yakima’s economy is built on small businesses—family-run operations, skilled trades, creatives, and agricultural entrepreneurs. A strong local economy depends on policies that encourage risk-taking, reward hard work, and remove government-imposed obstacles.
The priority is simple: get City Hall out of the way and let Yakima businesses thrive.
Yakima is at a crossroads. With rising costs, inflation-driven pressure on city services, and limited resources, the path forward requires steady, experienced leadership.
In recent years, the city has adopted Priority-Based Budgeting and long-term strategic planning to protect essential services without raising taxes—but the work isn’t finished.
To secure Yakima’s future, we must:
Yakima doesn’t need bigger government—it needs smarter government that gets results without overreach.
Yakima has long struggled to keep pace in critical infrastructure—from deteriorating roads and limited broadband to underbuilt housing. Over the last four years, infrastructure has been one of my top priorities.
Through strategic planning and collaboration, the city secured a 54-to-1 return on investment, leveraging general fund dollars to bring in significant state and federal grant funding for long-overdue improvements.
Key accomplishments include:
Next steps include:
Infrastructure is about more than pavement—it’s about preparing Yakima for long-term growth, opportunity, and quality of life. The work is underway, and it must continue.
Homelessness in Yakima demands a serious, long-term strategy rooted in accountability, compassion, and public safety. Over the last four years, I’ve served on the Yakima County Homeless Coalition, where I’ve studied the system closely, challenged bureaucratic failures, and refused to accept the “business-as-usual” approach that has failed both the homeless and the broader community.
Our people deserve better. Our community needs better. Lives are on the line.
Yakima must build a homelessness response that prioritizes results, recovery, and real partnerships—not endless funding loops or government inertia.
Key priorities include:
This is not just a policy issue—it’s a matter of safety, dignity, and the future of our city. We must get this right.
While City Council is a non-partisan office, I believe in being transparent with voters. I currently serve as the Chairman of the Yakima County Republican Party, a role I hold with great honor and responsibility. I’ve worked hard to advance conservative values locally—fighting for fiscal responsibility, limited government, and personal freedom.
I’m proud to take this pledge and will continue to stand up for the citizens of Yakima with principle, integrity, and accountability.
I’m Matt Brown, and Yakima is my home—where I’m raising my family and working hard for our future. Since 2022, I’ve served as Chairman of the Yakima County Republican Party, focused on recruiting principled leaders and building unity in our diverse community. Over the last four years, I’ve hosted five town halls to stay connected with the people I serve and listen to the issues that matter most.
My goal is simple: a Yakima where every voice is heard and our future is shaped by common-sense leadership.
An ordained Foursquare pastor, I serve as Operations Pastor at Yakima Foursquare Church, where my leadership is grounded in Christian faith. I also own Foresight Productions, an AV design firm serving churches and organizations across the Northwest. In 2025, I founded Marble Cake Media LLC to help candidates and small businesses navigate today’s political landscape.
With over 15 years in business—spanning media, operations, and leadership—I understand the struggles working families and small businesses face, from rising costs to government overreach. Those experiences fuel my fight for smaller government, fiscal responsibility, and individual liberty.
Faith, family, and freedom are my foundation. Leadership means showing up—at council meetings, community events, and those town halls where I’ve listened firsthand to your concerns. Yakima isn’t just where I live—it’s where I’m fighting for accountability, opportunity, and a future our kids can be proud of.
That’s my story—and that’s why I’m all in for Yakima.
